Why Montessori?
Mon·tes·so·ri
The Montessori method believes that children have an absorbent mind that moves at their own, independent pace. The environment is specifically prepared for children as they move through different “sensitive periods”.
The teacher is considered a guide and carefully observes the children to make sure they are using the most optimal material to help their development. Children advance to the next phase of their curriculum when they are individually prepared and ready, regardless of their age.
“Imagine your 4-month old feeding herself with a spoon. Your 18-month-old joyfully picking out his clothing and dressing himself. Your 2-year-old helping her baby sister put on her shoes. This is the power of Montessori at work in the lives of young children.
Dr. Maria Montessori, the Italian educator and scientist who, more than 100 years ago, developed the system of education that bears her name, knew that during the period from birth to age 3, your child’s brain develops more rapidly than at any other time, and more learning takes place than at any other stage of development. Yet many parents don’t seek out formal education until their children have passed the toddler age.”

Frequently Asked Questions
How is a Montessori School different from conventional schooling?
The environment is clean, simple, and organized; no bright, bold colors or flashy, loud objects. Children are trusted with beautiful, breakable items; given the opportunity to handle them with respect. Teachers speak to children like they are adults; no baby-talk and they will develop a rich and strong vocabulary because of this. You will notice a strong emphasis placed on individual social/emotional growth while helping learn how to be kind and respectful to peers, materials, and the world around them.
